Royalty exposure

Posted by: DDiligen on July 30, 2008 02:41PM

From Nokia/Qualcomm settlement - "Financial terms weren't disclosed. Under the deal, Nokia will pay an upfront fee and ongoing royalties to Qualcomm." http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?p... From Today's BUSINESS WIRE - said Roy Maharaj, Vice President, Licensing for Alliacense. "We continue to see strong interest from companies that wish to reduce their royalty exposure and the possibility of supply chain disruptions." If street had unfavorable view of LG/Qaunta case toward the strength of MMP, PTSC and TPL are using Nokia/Qualcomm settlement to our advantage. The key words are "ongoing royalties". It is a threat now and will be reality in the future. Companies keep waiting may be "rewarded" with "ongoing royalties" like Nokia did, in addition to upfront payment. This is a change in PTSC/TPL's strategy. Thanks for Qualcomm to advance patent holder's interests by winning the settlement. Hopefully we are not too far behind.
