I would guess the grant is temporary if wording in the grant defines it that way.  A deed 'grants' a set of rights to real property.

I'd like more definition of why you suggest a grant can be taken back,  I have never felt that it could.

Once granted or conveyed, you no longer have control IMO. (MO may not mean much but it is based on real estate law)
