From the best of my knowledge, Northern Star has done everything necessary to protect the environment. Fortunately, environmental laws are more strict than in the past so the chances for mismanagment are less. I don't know of one instance where NSM was cited or fined by provincial or national environmental regulators. Here is a press release from 2006 which says NSM passed water quality standards for pumped water.
