Pressuming I understand the process for defining a pipe and the technique being employed:

If the mathematics are correct there should be no need to bore more than one (or two) core(s) to depth. If it fails to prove it would be safe, though disappointing, to presume the process of evaluating priority targets; or at the very least the methodology for drilling; would warrant a re-evaluation.

Even so, failure has some merit in the information it bears for reference. Otherwise we would keep touching the pretty red coils on the stove.
