Toronto, August 1, 2007 - Hinterland Metals Inc. (TSXV:HMI) is pleased to announce that exploration work has commenced on the Hearne uranium project located approximately 120km west of Churchill in Northern Manitoba.  The property covers the southern lobe of the Paleoproterozoic Seal River Basin and is partly underlain by sulphide-bearing quartzite and quartz-pebble conglomerate.  At least three bands of pyritic conglomerates enriched in uranium were identified by previous workers in the late 1970’s.  Chip sampling of the conglomerate bands yielded up to 0.10lb/ton U3O8 over widths up to 15m.  Subsequent shallow drilling intersected an upper band of 0.48lb/ton U3O8 over 3m and a lower band of 0.24lb/ton U3O8 over 5m.

The exploration work includes a high sensitivity combined magnetometer and spectrometer airborne survey covering an area of approximately 100 square kilometers to be completed by Prospectair Inc. of Gatineau Quebec.  The work also includes ground prospecting and sampling to be completed by Hinterland personnel in the area of the previous work and also along the 11km strike length of known uranium mineralization.
