NEWS - Hinterland intersects broad Platinum and Palladium zone at Plateau Project, Quebec

Posted by: AGORACOM on March 13, 2007 09:50AM

Val d'Or, Quebec CANADA, March 13, 2007 - Hinterland Metals Inc. (TSXV:HMI) is pleased to announce assay results from eight holes recently drilled at the Plateau PGE Project located 35km southeast of Matagami, Quebec. The drilling was done in order to test the extent and nature of the platinum and palladium (“PGE”) zone discovered by drilling in October 2006 (Hinterland Press Release November 21, 2006). A broad zone of PGE mineralization hosted within pyroxenite gabbro ranging from 6.7 to 31.1m wide was intersected by the latest drilling over a horizontal distance of 300m. Weighted average intersections of the zone vary from 0.10 to 1.07g/t PGE with maximum individual values up to 2.52g/t PGE. A summary table of the weighted averages is attached to this release. A long section of the drilling will be posted to Hinterland’s website shortly. “We expected the drilling to define a narrow PGE layer but instead we have encountered a broad zone of mineralization. Clearly we have discovered a system of substantial PGE enrichment. This outcome strongly encourages more surface work and drilling in order to uncover the richest part of the system,” stated Mark Fekete, Hinterland’s President and CEO. The PGE zone is marked by coincident magnetic, induced polarization and soil geochemical anomalies. A high-definition aero-magnetic survey completed in June 2006 traces the magnetic anomaly for 4.8km. An induced polarization survey is currently underway on the property to be followed later in the spring by a soil geochemical survey. The combined data from these three surveys will provide more precise target selection for future drilling. On Wednesday, March 14, 2007, Mark Fekete, President & CEO of Hinterland Metals Inc. will record a "Beyond The Press Release" on the Company's official Investor Relations Site. The recording will discuss in "layman's" terms the results mentioned above.
