AeroMechanical Services (AMA: TSXV) produces innovative security solutions for the global airline business. The Company`s commercially accepted products are as follows:
AFIRS - Automated Flight Information Reporting System
AFIRS is a "smart box" that is installed on Boeing 737`s and monitors the critical operations of an aircraft while it is in flight and transmitting that data in near real-time to land-based maintenance crews, providing advance warning of any impending problems and the ability to repair them before turning into a catastrophe.
5 Regional Airlines have implemented or are in the process of implementing AFIRS + UpTime.
UpTime is a web-based system that collects the near real-time data from AFIRS, collates it and relays it to the client in any format required. UpTime also archives this data in a secure facility owned by AMS but operated by IBM.
UnderFloor Cockpit Stowage Unit
The Stowage Unit is a built-in stowage unit underneath the floor of an aircraft cockpit that provides for safe and easy access to important items such as flight manuals, maps and equipment.
New security regulations invoked after Sept 11, 2001 created the need for additional space to keep mandatory manuals and equipment inside the cockpit. Rules now require the cockpit door to remain locked during flight, therefore, placing manuals and other related items in the coat closet is no longer an option to airlines. However, with space inside the cockpit at a premium and the need to securely store items that would not become projectiles during flight, an innovative solution became rapidly necessary.
In 2004, the Stowage Unit received two significant orders of approximately $350,000 and $300,000 from regional operators in both North America and Europe.
