Re: China Sets Up Planemaker to Challenge Airbus, Boeing (Update1)

In response to: China Sets Up Planemaker to... by msgr77

sweet news...sweet find. Hopefully this was what the AMA/Chinese delay was all about. Namely, AVIC I and AVIC II were discussing a re-marriage of sorts......

"China aims to build a 150-seat aircraft by 2020 to support the expansion of its domestic travel market and to compete with Boeing and Airbus overseas"

From what I gather, the Chinese opted to work with Boeing and Airbus as well, instead of looking to the Russians for help, as the Chinese were not satisfied with the quality of Russian planes. Or put another way, the Chinese, Airbus and Boeing wanted to work together beacuse there is money to be made, knowing full well that someday in the future they would be competing with one and other. Hopefully this means the Chinese now have a clearer view of their airline industry, where AMA does its thing.

Cheers
