NEWS - AeroMechanical Services Receives First Purchase Order For China

Posted by: AGORACOM on December 05, 2007 08:58AM

CALGARY, Dec. 5 - AeroMechanical Services Ltd. (AMA on TSX-V) announced today that it has received a purchase order for 10 afirs units from the Aircraft Data Communications Company of China ("ADCC") for new generation 737 aircraft. This purchase order is the initiation of the long awaited roll out of AMS technologies for the aviation industry in China.

This purchase order comes on the heels of ADCC receiving approval by way of Verified Supplemental Type Certificates (VSTC) covering 737 aircraft in China.

Mr. Nui, President of ADCC stated that, "we worked very closely with the authorities over a number of months to speed up the process of having AMS' technologies approved for use with our commercial aviation customers in China."

Installations will begin early in the New Year with activation upon receipt of final approvals.

Once the VSTC has been received for the A320, Boeing 757 and 767 and Bombardier CRJ fleets, orders will be placed to equip these fleets with the AMS products as well. It is our expectation that shipments and installations will ramp up on a continuous basis through 2008 and beyond.

The frequency, which AMS utilizes for Chinese commercial aircraft, remains under review by the Chinese authorities. However, ADCC's decision to start ordering afirs technology was driven by its confidence that formal approval is imminent.

Michael Fang, Vice-President of AMS responsible for China stated that, "while this has taken considerably longer than expected, we are confident our roll out in China is finally underway. We appreciate the time and energy that ADCC management and staff have put into securing the necessary approvals to make this program a success and we are very pleased to be an integral part of the growth strategies of China's commercial aviation sector. Our very successful relationship with ADCC, CAAC and all of the Chinese airlines is due to the hard work and outstanding efforts of ADCC.";

China currently has a commercial fleet in excess of 1,100 aircraft with recent Airbus and Boeing orders pushing that number to roughly 1,300.
