The trouble with your pessimism is that it is based on the "bad" facts that you know about - not the other options that you don't know about.
Most of us, when faced with an obstacle: Let's say, a dangerous looking guy a block ahead standing with a baseball bat with a nail sticking out of it, we find another way to go - in essence, we get around the obstacle.
Pessimists like you state that there is an obstacle - and therefore we must all take the baseball bat in the head.
What a bunch of HOGWASH! Your logic is ludicrous. Even a high-school flunk-out can figure out that there are plenty of ways to get around an obstacle.
