Steve Ballmer saying he's moved on from Yahoo! is meaningless. When he says at his analyst day that he's not in active discussions, it means that he's not in discussions at that moment while he's on stage giving his talk. MSFT needs Yahoo! - now more than ever. Their recent quarter was a major disappointment with their Online Services Group and it also alarmingly showed a slowdown in Desktop Software. Yahoo helps them with both areas. Now that the proxy battle is over, it's time for serious discussions. I believe Yahoo! will be bought before the years is out.
