Write NRs so average people get it

Posted by: annesman on May 09, 2008 12:14PM

Who wrote those two News Releases? Please learn to write. Learn you should write for your audience: average people, which means people who do not understand the things that are fun for Geo's and CEO's of exploration co's.

Lead with what you want people to understand, for pity's sake. Like this:

"Opawica is excited to announce it has discovered its main Atikwa Lake mineral deposit is triple what was previously known, with no noticable reduction in concentration of gold and copper. Included in the newly discovered volume are the same types of high concentrations of gold and copper found in the previously known Maybrun deposit at Atikwa Lake."

Come on you guys... that opening was written (with a minor correction by me) by my thirteen year old daughter, after she read the NR and asked me some questions about it.

Surely Opawica and its writers can do as well as a kid in Grade 8.

Also, when you're being interviewed, please lead with what you want people to understand. Please don't tell people "ask your friendly Geo or P.Eng." That's just asking for your share price to get pummeled. Sheesh, I have a puny little dumbass BA in Psych/English, and even I know that.

Opawica leaders are smart guys. They need to hold themselves accountable to do better in future.
