Fact is that short selling is theft.... legitimate investors are deprived of selling their shares by oportunists that steal their profites in the name of added liquidity.
This would have bank robbers justify their actions via providing liquidity in the retail sales market via buying stuff with stollen funds... the relacement of those funds coming back into the bank when the merchants make their bank deposits.
The shorts are having a field day now.... selling down end of day, causing liquidation of mutual funds who provide stock for filling the shorts.... death spiral effect justified by a bunch of thieves.
Fact is the short sellers make the profit and the long investor who actually invested in the stock gets stiffed.... most often via his own brokerage house.
There is something fundementally wrong in our society where destruction of value is rewarded and encouraged . It is this fundemental wrong which is responcible for this death spiral...
