The Rings Central Core

Good morning All:                          Can't seem to find a text for Geology 101 course so will ask another perhaps silly question. By the looks of the ring stucture that is being and has been staked in the McFaulds Lake area I would assume this structure is likely the result of ancient volcanic activity ( this may be an eroneus assumption). If this is the case I assume further that some of the finds made so far are from ejected material that solidified as it came out through cracks and fissures during active times. What I don't understand is why there is no claim activity through the central core area of the ring? Seems to me this might be as prolific an area as the perimeter. Any explanation would be appreciated and thanks in advance.           the deputy
