In all fairness to John, most of the laterites are treated as just that-pig nickel. Due to the complexities and high costs associated with autoclaves and the HPAL processes, most refiners choose to refine laterite ores with the iron oxides intact, hence producing pig nickel.

Technically you are correct though, after all nickel is nickel.
