NI 43-101 is a rule for governing the disclosure of data (eg drill results) so that they are presented in a way that is standard across all companies. This way, the average investor is accustomed to one format. it also makes it easier to compare results across different publications.
When people casually say 43-101, it has a slightly different meaning in that it is short for "NI 43-101 compliant resource estimate".
